Flatpicking Guitar Summit – Saturday, October 26, 8:00 pm

The Minnesota Guitar Society has put together an evening featuring five of the Upper Midwest’s best known flatpicking guitarists. Two of the featured performers are instructors here at The Homestead Pickin’ Parlor.

The concert will be held in Sundin Music hall at Hamline University in St. Paul.
The hall is located on Hewitt Ave N on the Hamline Campus. Free parking is available on campus 1 block NE of Sundin Hall off Pascal. The map below will give you the lay of the land. Tickets are $22.00 general admission, $17.00 for MGS members and Seniors and $10.00 for students. Tickets can be reserved at (612)677-1151 and the box office opens 45 minutes before the concert.

So much for the bidness of it all. Let’s talk about the entertainment. In no particular order, you will be entertained by:

Adam Granger. Undoubtedly the dean of Minnesota flatpickers. He’s the author of “Granger’s Fiddle Tunes for Gutiar”, the go-to reference book for guitarists looking for fiddle tunes to flatpick. We’re proud to have Adam as one of Homestead’s teaching staff.

Bill Liners. A past Minnesota State flatpicking champion, Bill is one of the stalwarts of the band, Ivory Bridge. It should be mentioned that the other stalwart is his wife Kathy.

John Bodle. A member of Ivory Bridge, most often seen driving the mandolin in their performances, but John is a past second place winner in the Minnesota State Flatpicking championship.

Chris Silver. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve been following Chris since Stoney Lonesome days. One of the finest guitarists in this area and the force behind the Chris Silver Band. A band of many manifestations, but consistently serving up top shelf music.

Mike Cramer. Another of Homestead’s finest, Mike has been performing for a number of years that belies his relatively young age. Another Minnesota State Flatpicking Champion, Mike has a broad background in jazz and is in the process of authoring a series of mandolin books for Hal Leonard.
