Steve Kaufman Workshops & Concert – April 4th-7th

Kaufman WorkshopWe’re excited to be hosting musician Steve Kaufman, the only three-time winner of the National Flatpicking Championships, for a concert and series of guitar and mandolin workshops April 4-7. Steve’s music covers a broad range of styles, including bluegrass, swing, Irish and Appalachian fiddle tunes, and folk and country classics. He’s a featured performer at many major bluegrass festivals; the author of more than 80 instructional books, DVDs and CDs; and has released 12 recordings to date.

Apr 4 – Mandolin Rhythm Workshop (20 students maximum). Chords from basic to intermediate forms,
chops, timing, notes, etc. Some basic knowledge of the mandolin is helpful though
not required. 7-9 p.m. $50.

Apr 5 – Beginner and Intermediate Mandolin Lead Workshop (20 students
maximum). Fingerings, new
songs, how to learn new songs, learning by Tab and by ear. 7-9 p.m. $50.

Apr 6 – Beginner/Intermediate Flatpicking Workshop (20 students
maximum). Right and left hand
techniques to gain better control, new tunes, new chords. 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. $90.

Apr 7 – Upper Intermediate and Advanced Level Flatpicking Workshop (20 students
maximum). Right and
left hand techniques to gain better control, new tunes, new chords. Noon-3 p.m. $50.

Kaufman ConcertWatch Steve play all of the “hot licks” and tasty melodies that he teaches in his books, DVDs and workshops live in concert! Opening the show will be 2012 MN State Flatpicking Champion Mike Cramer. MN guitar hero and MC extraordinaire, Adam Grainger, will be serving as the Master of Ceremonies! Don’t miss this special show.
